#PetHappens

A lesson in resourcefulness.

As a main sponsor of the Puppy Bowl, Bissell was looking for a way to get some social chatter chattering—no biggie, right? Right. Except they wanted ideas in a week and on a budget that creepily whispered, "Surely there's something you can make for us." And we did. You see, the Internet loves puppies almost as much as they love kittens, which is a lot. So, we sought out and found real home videos of dogs making some pretty huge (and adorable) messes.

But then we wondered, how will we make anyone care? And remembered that the only thing the Internet loves more than kittens and puppies is talking about themselves. So, we asked viewers to use the hashtag #PetHappens (see what we did there?) to share their own pet messes, along with the little perk that with each and every post, Bissell would donate moolah to local pet shelters. Because every pet deserves to have a loving home, messes and all.

Thousands of posts later, we managed to not only pick up a little press, but give Bissell what they were longing for: some social swagger.
