Mayo Clinic

Don’t get me wrong, I love to write (which is largely the point of this here specific URL and all), but every once in a while, there are people and places and stories so incredible the best thing any creative can do is ask the more infrequently asked questions, listen—like, really listen, witness and make a silent vow to do them any semblance of justice. It’s uncomfy to go in with things unscripted, it’s tricky to prove a concept without a foreshadowed tagline to punctuate the ending. It’s a dare to get strangers to feel safe and cozy enough with you that they can begin to unclasp their shoulders under carefully directed lighting and grip gear. And I really love that part, too.

These stories from real physicians at Mayo Clinic inventing in real-time the things that have and will become literally life-changing will stick with me for a very, very long time. And I’m so grateful their curiosity, kindness, resilience and brilliance exists in this world.
